Two of our 2021 summer activities - Memorial Day Ceremony and 4th of July Parade -
The band has grown in many ways since its inception in 1999. Since 2016, The West Performing Arts Center, 18695 West Cleveland Avenue, has been the New Berlin Community Band’s performance venue. The band welcomes the opportunity to perform in a true concert setting. The band has grown musically under the baton of past directors Lansing Dimon, Jay Huenink and Dr. Nick Contorno, the founding director. NBCB remains associated as a nonprofit organization with the East Troy Community Band.
In addition to formal concerts, the band makes community service appearances throughout the year. Veteran’s Day, Memorial, Day, and Patriotic Citizens’ Day are three of these New Berlin civic activities along with the Christmas and 4th of July parades down National Avenue. Concerts given at area senior living communities are also part of the band’s community outreach mission.
The band consists of approximately 50 volunteer, adult instrumentalists from throughout southeastern Wisconsin. The band rehearses at Hoeppner Horn Bros. VFW 17980 W Beloit Road in New Berlin on Monday’s 7-8:30pm Sept through June. New musicians are always welcome. No audition required. Follow the band on Facebook!
The New Berlin Community Band is a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to contribute positively to the musical environment in the community through public performances while providing an enjoyable, challenging, and educational musical experience for the members.
